About Christopher J. Apparel
Christopher J. Apparel was founded by Chris Coriale of Phoenix, Arizona. Chris has spent over 25 years working as a software engineer, systems architect, and an information security professional.
His flagship product, the Manhattan, was inspired out of frustration. Chris was tired of being uncomfortable every day. The typical uniform in his line of work was button up shirt, slacks, and of course – an undershirt. Chris, being the software engineer/problem solver he is, set out to create the perfect solution to the necessary hindrance of undershirts.
After spending over 2 years engineering the shirt, the design is now perfect and ready for you to wear and enjoy. The Manhattan is designed to stay tucked in. Not only because it is longer than typical undershirts but because it is naturally and mechanically elastic. It will move and stretch with your body. The material is a Tencel and cotton blend that is amazingly comfortable. You no longer need to constantly tuck in your shirt or pull at your scratchy collar. Read more about Tencel.
What is Tencel ™
Tencel is an amazingly soft, wood-based fiber. Admittedly, a shirt made out of a tree doesn’t sound very comfortable but at the end of the process Tencel is incredibly soft, delicate, and responsibly produced.
Tencel Lyocell fibers are made in a closed loop production process. Wood pulp is transformed into cellulosic fibers from a highly abundant resource with a low environmental impact. The process recycles process water and reuses solvents at a recovery rate of more than 99%.
Biodegradable Fabric
Tencel has been certified as biodegradable and compostable under industrial, home, soil and marine conditions. Your shirt can fully revert back to nature. When you’re done with it of course.
Designed for Fit and Comfort
Moisture Managing Science
The microscopic fibrils of cellulosic fibers regulate the absorption and release of moisture. This helps the fabric breathe and supports the body’s natural thermal regulation.
Naturally Antibacterial
Since Tencel absorbs moisture efficiently (as measured by the Vapor Uptake Test and Water Retention Value), there is less moisture formed on the surface of the fiber. Without the moisture, bacteria doesn’t grow the same as it would on polyester or synthetic fabrics.
Stays Tucked
We blend the Tencel fiber with cotton to give it weight and added rigidity to keep the shirt’s form. The 70% Tencel and 30% cotton is the perfect blend for comfort and elasticity without using spandex.
We invite you to try out this special blend material and unique design with an eco-friendly clothing piece of your own. If you are unhappy for any reason simply send it back for a full refund.
